LAHORE:
Two maintenance workers were rescued after falling unconscious inside a sewer manhole in DHA.
According to Rescue 1122, the Emergency Command and Control Centre received information that the workers had collapsed inside a manhole in X Block due to toxic gases. Rescue teams reached the site.
Officials said one worker had gone into the manhole to clear a blockage but lost consciousness due to poisonous fumes and fallen inside.
The second worker had entered the manhole in an attempt to rescue his colleague but was also affected by the fumes. Rescuers pulled both men out and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said an investigation was under way, while warning about the dangers of toxic gases in confined spaces.
