SAF Games to be held in Pakistan from April 4 to 11: MoFA

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on preparations for the SAF Games, with the dates for the event finalised for April 4 to 11, 2027, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said,

According to a MoFA post on X, the dates were finalised in coordination with the South Asian Olympic Committee. The meeting also approved the appointment of a National Coordinator and the composition of the Steering, Organising and Provincial Committees.

“A total of 28 sports will be contested, with over 6,000 athletes and officials expected to participate,” MoFA said.

“The events will be held in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” it added.

Dar directed all concerned to “maintain close coordination, ensure timely completion of venues and uphold the highest standards” for the successful hosting of the Games.

He also directed the Steering Committee to meet every month to monitor progress.

The meeting was attended by the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC, representatives of the provincial governments and senior federal and provincial officials.
