Robertson, 23, was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with six for 52 in his first ODI appearance. His figures rank among the best bowling performances by a player on men’s ODI debut.
The right-arm spinner made the breakthrough when he dismissed Harsh Thaker, triggering a collapse in the Canadian middle order. Saad Bin Zafar, Shivam Sharma, Shreyas Movva, Zahid Shirzad and Kaleem Sana also fell to Robertson as Canada struggled to build a partnership.
Scotland’s total had given their bowlers a substantial cushion. Berrington anchored the innings with a century, his seventh in ODI cricket, while Scotland’s batters maintained the pressure throughout their innings to reach 347 for seven.
Canada never came close to chasing down the target, losing wickets at regular intervals before being dismissed for 177. Robertson’s six-wicket haul ensured Scotland ended the series with another emphatic win.
The performance marked a memorable international debut for Robertson, who previously represented Scotland at the 2022 ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
“It’s been a good day,” Robertson told Cricket Scotland after the match. “I don’t think it’s really sunk in what’s actually happened.”
He said being informed by the team doctors that he would make his debut had been a special moment.
“I’ve worked hard this year to get where I am,” Robertson said. “When I got the ball, I felt a bit shaky, but after that first one landed, I felt quite good.”
Scotland’s victory also confirmed their place at the top of the League 2 standings and capped a successful campaign. The side had already secured qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier scheduled for early 2027.
Scotland, the United States and the Netherlands have secured places in the Qualifier through their League 2 performances. Oman, meanwhile, remain involved in a battle for the final qualification place alongside Namibia, Canada, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.
For Scotland, however, the Dundee victory provided an ideal conclusion to their League 2 campaign, with Robertson’s six-wicket debut emerging as the defining moment of the match.
