Strong investor interest in banking, cement, fertiliser and energy stocks lifts market’s mood
KARACHI:
Buying interest dominated trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, lifting the benchmark KSE-100 Index by nearly 1,000 points during intraday trade.
Investor activity remained concentrated in automobile assemblers, cement, chemical, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies, and power generation stocks.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index, which was hovering around 181,397.01 points at 9:42am, touched an intraday high of 181,687.19 before surrendering some gains amid profit-taking.

By 2:14pm, the index was trading at 181,010.24, up 995.31 points, or 0.55%, from the previous close of 180,014.93. During the session, it slipped to an intraday low of 180,626.92.
Market participation remained healthy, with 189.26 million shares changing hands, while the value of traded shares stood at Rs17.63 billion.
