PESHAWAR:
A 10-year-old fifth-grade student lost his life in Peshawar after accidentally shooting himself while filming a TikTok video.
The incident occurred in the Tehkal area of Peshawar when Aweis, a young student, was recording a video in front of a mirror inside his home. According to his family, Aweis placed a pistol near the mirror and was attempting to create content when the weapon suddenly discharged, killing him on the spot.
Aweis’s father, Saifur Rehman, described the moment as devastating for the entire family. “We always try our best to keep our children away from mobile phones, but school homework, WhatsApp groups, and online assignments make it difficult,” he said. “On that fateful day, Aweis was making a video. He placed the pistol close to the mirror, not knowing how to handle it properly. It was a small mistake that cost him his life.”
At the time of the incident, other children in the house had gone to school, leaving Aweis alone in the room where he usually studied.
SP Cantt Abdullah Ihsan confirmed that police have investigated the case and the family stated that the boy died while attempting to make a TikTok video.
