Pakistan secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026 after holding Kazakhstan to a 1-1 draw in their Challenger Pool match.
The two sides produced an evenly contested encounter, with Kazakhstan making the stronger start and taking the lead in the opening quarter.
Kazakhstan’s Aman Geldy Zhansaya put her side ahead in the 15th minute, finishing a move to give her team a 1-0 advantage.
Pakistan responded by increasing the pressure and looked for an equaliser as the match progressed. The Pakistan side created several attacking opportunities but were unable to find a way past the Kazakhstan defence before the interval.
The game remained closely fought after the break, with Pakistan continuing to push forward in search of a leveller. Their persistence finally paid off in the fourth quarter when captain Sharqa Sarwar scored in the 55th minute to make it 1-1.
Sarwar produced a fine field move before finding the net, bringing Pakistan back on level terms and setting up a tense finish.
Both teams pushed for a winning goal in the final minutes, but neither side was able to break the deadlock. The match ended 1-1, with Pakistan taking the result they needed to advance to the quarter-finals.
Pakistan will now turn their attention to the quarter-finals, where they will look to build on their performance against Kazakhstan and continue their run in the competition.
