CHAGAI:
Armed men abducted four travellers, including a Customs official, from a passenger coach in the Charsar area of Chagai district in broad daylight, police said on Saturday.
According to police sources, Customs official Muhammad Ibrahim was travelling from Quetta to Dalbandin on duty when the passenger coach broke down along the way. Armed men subsequently arrived at the scene, stopped the passengers and checked their identity cards before taking four individuals away, including Ibrahim.
Following the incident, police and security personnel rushed to the area and launched a search operation to trace the abducted individuals and secure their recovery. Further details about the identities of the other three abductees and their whereabouts were not immediately available.
The incident comes amid continuing security concerns in Balochistan, where armed groups have carried out attacks and abductions in different areas.
In a separate development, Additional Sessions Judge Asadullah Raisani of Panjgur, who was abducted earlier this week, has returned home safely after spending four days in captivity, according to his family.
Family sources said the judge was travelling from Quetta to Panjgur on October 7 when armed men intercepted his vehicle and abducted him near Basima.
He was subsequently released near Gadar and managed to reach his home safely, bringing relief to his family.
No further details regarding the circumstances of his release were immediately available.
The two incidents highlight the security challenges facing travellers on highways in Balochistan, particularly in remote areas where long distances between settlements can complicate emergency responses.
Authorities had launched efforts to recover the four people abducted from the passenger coach in Charsar, while the safe return of the Panjgur judge brought an end to his family’s four-day ordeal.
