Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed the authorities to take immediate measures for the treatment of a woman allegedly subjected to an acid attack in Mastung.
On the chief minister’s instructions, a letter has been issued to arrange treatment for the affected woman at Agha Khan Hospital in Karachi at government expense to ensure better and advanced medical facilities.
Advisor to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind said the government would provide the victim with the best possible medical treatment and take all necessary measures in this regard.
He said a case had been registered over the incident that occurred in the Killi Babri area of Mastung, while police were investigating the matter.
The victim would also be provided complete legal assistance along with medical treatment, he added.
Rind said incidents of violence against women and acid attacks were completely unacceptable and vowed that those involved would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
He said all relevant institutions would play their role in ensuring the victim’s treatment and protection, while the investigation would proceed according to the law.
Five Health Department employees dismissed
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Health Department has dismissed five employees after they were found to be holding dual jobs.
According to a notification, the dismissed employees include four medical officers and a chowkidar-cum-gardener.
They were identified as Lady Medical Officer Dr Bakhtawar Jamal, posted at the District Health Officer (DHO) Office Lasbela; Medical Officer Dr Sajid Zahoor, posted at Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta; Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Irfan, posted at Teaching Hospital Loralai; Medical Officer Dr Masood Ahmed, posted at the DHO Office Loralai; and chowkidar-cum-gardener Muhammad Hassan, posted at the DHO Office Dera Bugti.
The notification stated that the employees were dismissed under the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act, 2011, after dual employment was established against them.
