According to state media Radio Pakistan, the prime minister would hold a meeting with the provincial leadership in Quetta and chair a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee of the NAP.
PM Shehbaz previously visited Quetta on January 8, where he met political leaders and unveiled multiple multi-billion-rupee development initiatives aimed at strengthening the province’s education and infrastructure sectors.
The last Provincial Apex Committee meeting was held on March 5, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, where a comprehensive review of the province’s security landscape, governance reforms, and ongoing development efforts was conducted, underscoring significant progress in enforcing the writ of the state.
Chief Minister Bugti highlighted the tangible impact of resolute state policies in strengthening law enforcement and governance. He stressed the need for a unified, uncompromising stance against terrorism.
ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, addressing a press conference in Peshawar in October last year, said that failure to enforce the National Action Plan agreed upon by all political parties is causing a surge in terrorism. He said that the main battlegrounds remain Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
