DERA ISMAIL KHAN:
Six police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO), were injured on Saturday when terrorists opened fire on vehicles carrying the Kalaachi DSP and Hathala SHO in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Dera Ismail Khan, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Makin confirmed.
According to RPO Makin, the attack took place near Al-Amin Farmhouse within the jurisdiction of Hathala police station.
HE said that the sudden firing caused the DSP Kalaachi’s vehicle to go out of control, veer off the road and overturn, injuring the DSP, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Nauman Khan, Constable Qasim, gunman Ghulam Saeed, Constable Hashim and Lady Constable Amber Altash.
“The injured police personnel were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan for treatment,” RPO Makin said.
A heavy police contingent reached the site after receiving information about the incident, while additional personnel were dispatched from Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan. The area was cordoned off and an operation against the terrorists was launched.

RPO Makin and District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed visited the DHQ Civil Hospital to inquire about the health of police officers.
RPO Makin and DPO Ahmed met the injured police officers, inquired about their well-being and appreciated their courage and resolve. During the visit, the RPO also provided financial assistance to the injured officers and personnel.
The RPO also obtained detailed information from doctors at the hospital about the condition, treatment and medical facilities being provided to the injured personnel. He directed the hospital administration to ensure the provision of the best possible medical facilities to the injured personnel.
RPO Makin said that police officers and personnel were performing their duties on the front line in the war against terrorism without caring for their lives.
“We pay tribute to their courage, dedication and sacrifices,” he said.
He said the police force’s resolve against terrorism remained unwavering, adding that all available resources were being utilised to thwart the nefarious designs of elements seeking to undermine peace.
“The police will continue to take all possible measures to protect the lives and property of the people,” he said.
The RPO and DPO prayed for the early and complete recovery of the injured police officers and personnel and appreciated their high morale. They said the police department stood by its injured officers and personnel and would continue to provide all possible support for their welfare and medical treatment.
