ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik held a meeting with Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Country Representative Laura Jalosjoki to discuss climate financing and strategic planning, according to a statement on Monday.
Jalosjiki briefed the minister on how GGGI can support Pakistan in developing institutional and financial frameworks to access climate financing. She highlighted GGGI’s global experience in helping countries align sustainable development with economic growth.
Both sides reviewed the Pakistan Country Programme 2024-2028, discussing priority areas including private sector engagement for climate finance, agriculture value chains, AI-enabled monitoring systems, and startup ecosystems. The meeting also discussed the Global Clean Hydrogen Programme, currently under consideration in Pakistan. The initiative aims to support Pakistan’s transition to net-zero by building hydrogen-related capacity. The programme is operational in nine countries and is estimated to reduce approximately 2.3 million metric tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Malik emphasised that all policies must be grounded in Pakistan’s realities and stressed the importance of designing locally relevant solutions that are practical aligned with national development needs.
