LHC halts expulsion of Afghan medical students

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restrained authorities from expelling 13 Afghan medical students from their colleges and directed the University of Health Sciences (UHS), PMDC and concerned medical colleges to submit their replies at the next hearing.

Justice Khalid Ishaq issued the interim order while hearing petitions filed by 13 Afghan students, including Sabiha Daftani and Waheeda Asad Rasool, who challenged the directives seeking their removal from medical colleges.

The petitioners contended that they were enrolled in various medical colleges across Punjab, with several of them already studying in their fourth and fifth years of MBBS.
